About Jen:
Jen Friedman is an interfaith minister, chaplain and spiritual leader serving the growing community of seekers and practitioners identified as spiritual but not religious. She shares a deeply sacred presence and creates an authentic spiritual atmosphere to any ceremony or event that she facilitates without the pretense. She holds a Master of Divinity from The Iliff School of Theology and has a depth of spiritual understanding that is unique to her because she has engaged rigorous study and practice in many faith traditions including Christianity, Islam and Buddhism.
Jen has a warm, down-to-earth style, natural charisma and calm presence that conveys generosity of spirit. As a consulting minister and musician of fifteen years, Jen has experience speaking, singing and leading congregations and large groups. She traveled the country for seven years presenting musical church service programs at over 50 church congregations. She is an accomplished musician, singing and playing guitar and harmonium. She is a Dance Leader and Mentor in the Dances of Universal Peace tradition and leads the monthly Longmont and Lafayette, Colorado Peace Dance circles. Jen has led sacred song and dance experiences at events around the world including the Parliament of World Religions 2018 in Toronto, Canada and the General Assembly International gathering of Unitarian Universalist congregations. She is also a frequent visiting Music Minister at The Iliff School of Theology in Denver co-leading retreats and workshops on sacred song, dance and movement and embodied spiritual leadership for future ministers and chaplains.
Jen is currently on staff with Longmont United Hospital and Boulder Community Health Foothills Campus as a part-time chaplain. She is a consulting chaplain and officiant with Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont and feels extremely privileged to work with families as they honor the life of their loved ones during the funeral and celebration of life process. Jen offers comfort and support for those navigating the grief process and works closely with families to co-create a meaningful memorial event that captures the essence of the loved one being honored. Jen also loves celebrating wedding ceremonies. She can lead traditional ceremonies or co-create a custom “outside of the box” ceremony that perfectly reflects the personality of the couple. This can include leading the group in sacred song, kirtan and dance.
